Cookie policy

1. The short version

This website sets nothing non-essential without your say-so. Arrive from a Minuted partner's link, or from a campaign we have paid for, and our cookie choices prompt asks whether we may remember how you found us; only if you say yes do we set a small attribution cookie, and saying no is just as easy. The same prompt covers our analytics and advertising cookies from Google and Meta: none of them is set unless you accept its category, and declining loses you nothing. Once you make a choice we set one more cookie that stores the choice itself, so we can honour it on your next visit and on the app.

We do use one privacy-friendly measurement tool, Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects only anonymous, aggregate statistics such as which pages are visited and how quickly they load. You can turn it off in one click at the foot of this page.

The Minuted app, which you use after you sign up and log in, sets one cookie so that it can keep you signed in. That is the only cookie involved in using Minuted.

2. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Cookies are often used to keep you logged in, to remember preferences or to track people across sites for advertising. We use them only for the first of those.

3. Cookies on this website

The pages you are reading are static and set no cookies of their own. Cookies only appear here in two cases: attribution cookies you have actively accepted through our cookie choices prompt, and the cookie that stores the choices you make in that prompt.

When you make a choice we also keep a record of it on our side: what you chose, when and a random reference that identifies the record rather than you. UK law asks us to be able to show that anything needing your consent really had it; this record is how we do that.

Our analytics and advertising cookies work the same way: the cookie choices prompt asks before any of them is set, with accepting and declining equally easy, and every one is listed below. You can review or change your choices at any time using the cookie choices link in the footer of every page.

4. Every cookie, in one list

This is the complete list of cookies used across the Minuted website and app, grouped by category:

• Strictly necessary: minuted_session, set by the app when you log in, keeps you signed in, expires after about seven days or when you log out. Set without consent because the app cannot work without it.
• Strictly necessary: minuted_consent, set when you make a choice in our cookie choices prompt. It stores the choices themselves plus a random reference for our record of your consent, lasts 12 months and is shared between this website and the app so you are not asked twice. Set without consent because it is how we honour your consent.
• Attribution: minuted_ref, set only if you accept it after arriving from a partner's link, holds the partner code only, expires after 30 days. Never set without your consent.
• Attribution: minuted_attr, set only with the same consent, remembers which campaign or ad brought you here (for example the campaign name in the link you clicked) for up to 90 days so we know which of our efforts actually help. Never set without your consent.
• Analytics: _ga and _ga_M9KJDT2NKD, set by Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies, help us understand how the website and signup pages are used, expire after 13 months. Never set without your consent.
• Advertising: _fbp and _fbc, set by the Meta pixel only if you accept advertising cookies, help us measure whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising works, expire after 90 days. Never set without your consent.
• Advertising: _gcl_au, _gcl_aw and _gcl_gs, set by Google Ads with the same advertising consent, connect a visit to a Google ad you clicked so we know the ad worked, expire after 90 days. Never set without your consent.
• Advertising: IDE and test_cookie, set by Google on its own doubleclick.net domain with the same advertising consent, used by Google to measure ad conversions. These are the only third-party cookies anywhere on Minuted, and like the rest they are never set without your consent.
• Not cookies: your analytics opt-out is stored in your browser's local storage on your device and is never sent to us.

5. Remembering how you found us

Minuted has partners, such as trades and local businesses, who tell their customers about us. Their cards, stickers and QR codes carry a short partner code, and a customer who signs up with that code gets their first month free while the partner is credited.

When you arrive from a partner's link it carries that code in the web address. So the free month still applies even if you sign up a few days later, we offer to remember the code for you. If you say yes, we set one small first-party cookie called minuted_ref that holds only the partner code. It lasts 30 days, is used for nothing but applying your free month and crediting the partner, and is never used for advertising or to track you across other sites.

This cookie is not needed to run Minuted, so we only ever set it if you choose to. When you land from a partner's link we show a short prompt with a clear yes and an equally clear no. Nothing is set unless you pick yes, and picking no is just as easy. If a different partner refers you later we will ask again for that new code.

You never need the cookie to get your free month. Every partner's card and QR code carries the code in plain sight, so you can simply type it into the partner code field when you sign up. Declining the cookie loses you nothing.

The same choice covers one more cookie, minuted_attr, which remembers which campaign or advert brought you here, such as the campaign name carried in a link you clicked. It holds nothing about who you are, lasts at most 90 days and is used only to tell us which of our efforts bring people to Minuted.

To remove these cookies after accepting them, use the cookie choices link in the footer and reject; they are deleted on the spot. You can also block cookies for this site entirely in your browser settings.

6. Measurement on this website

We measure how this website is used with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and builds no profile of you. It tells us things like how many people visited a page, roughly where visits come from and how quickly pages load, all as anonymous aggregate numbers. We use this only to understand and improve the website.

UK law allows this kind of cookie-free, statistics-only measurement without a consent banner, provided we tell you about it and give you a way to say no. This section is the telling; the switch at the foot of this page is the way to say no. Turning it off stores a single small entry in your browser's local storage so the measurement script is never even loaded on your next visit.

Separately, and only if you accept analytics cookies in our cookie choices prompt, we also use Google Analytics. It sets the _ga cookies listed above and shows us how people move through the site and the signup, so we can see where things work and where they do not. It is off by default, loads nothing until you accept, and rejecting it in the prompt removes it.

7. The cookie the app uses

When you log in to the Minuted app we set a single cookie called minuted_session. It holds a secure, signed token that tells the app you are logged in, so you do not have to sign in on every page.

It is a strictly necessary cookie: the app cannot work without it. It is marked HttpOnly, so it cannot be read by scripts in your browser, and it is restricted to the app so it is not sent to anyone else. It expires after about seven days, or sooner when you log out.

8. Other storage we use

To remember small preferences, such as light or dark mode and the pages you have pinned, the app keeps a little information in your browser's local storage. This is not a cookie and is never sent to us or anyone else. It stays on your device and you can clear it from your browser at any time.

This website keeps one small item in local storage too: your measurement opt-out, if you have set one.

9. Cookies from our suppliers

Some things happen on pages run by our suppliers rather than by us. When you pay, checkout is handled by Stripe, which may set its own strictly necessary cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those cookies are governed by Stripe's own policy.

The advertising and analytics cookies from Meta and Google listed above are the only other supplier cookies we use, and they are only ever set with your consent through our cookie choices prompt. Reject them, or change your mind later through the cookie choices link in the footer, and they are not set or are deleted.

10. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block the app's session cookie you will not be able to stay logged in to Minuted, but nothing else on this website depends on cookies.
